Happy Halloween - Fall Fondue – Fun with Fondue, Issue #68
October 30, 2019

Happy Halloween! While I can appreciate the cooler temps of October, I am already missing the longer days of summer!

But I love the comfort foods of the “ber” months. There is something about apples, pumpkins, and potatoes that warms you to the core. And even better, they can all be used with cheese fondue (another favorite) to give you a perfect combination for the fall. Invite your friends over and you can make it a cheese fondue party!

Monthly Fondue Tip

How to Prevent Oily Cheese Fondue

Have you ever made a cheese fondue and you notice that the oil separates from the cheese?

This likely happened because your heat was on too high. Cheese fondue shouldn't be done on a high heat setting. When cheese fondue gets too hot, milk solids will separate from the oils in the cheese, causing what you experienced.

Be sure to always give yourself plenty of time to allow a slow melting of the cheese. Guests getting inpatient? Pour some wine or beer and see who can tell the funniest joke. Winner gets the first dip into the perfectly melted cheese.

Monthly Recipe Recommendation

Cheese fondue is a favorite at parties, and is perfect for the fall as it pairs nicely with all things fall: apples, football, and Halloween, to name a few.

Want to put an even more special touch to it or have extra pumpkins sitting around? You can scoop out the insides and roast the pumpkin for 45 minutes or until tender and serve the cheese inside. You may need to reheat the cheese if you don’t eat it fast enough though.
