Fun with Fondue, Issue #6 -- Picking the right chocolate fondue maker for your needs
July 30, 2012

Weather has been fantastic in Canada this summer and I hope it's been the same where you live!

In this month's newsletter, we cover the differences between various chocolate fondue makers and we recommend a wonderful cherry-flavored chocolate fondue with Angel Food cake and whipped cream. Yum!

Monthly Fondue Tip - Chocolate Fondue Makers

In keeping up with last month's theme (serving sizes for dessert and chocolate fondue), this month's tip deals with choosing the right type of chocolate maker for your needs.

While you can use a fondue fountain, electric Crock-Pot, all-purpose fondue set or dessert fondue pot (with a tea light) to make chocolate fondue, each of these devices has its advantages and disadvantages. Learn more about various chocolate makers and their limitations here.

Monthly Recipe Recommendation

Lots of fresh fruit is available during the summer, so we might as well enjoy these delicious gifts of nature with some added sweetness: chocolate!

I recommend this dark and white chocolate fondue recipe with cherry brandy and fresh cherries, strawberries, blueberries and apple slices for dippers.

Want to make this dessert even more festive? Cut up bite-sized pieces of Angel food cake to dip in the chocolate and whip some fresh cream with a dash of vanilla and sugar.

  1. Prepare the fondue as directed here.
  2. Dip pieces of fruit or cake.
  3. Let them cool for a few seconds.
  4. Dip into whipped cream.
  5. Enjoy!

That's it for now. Feel free to visit our site and browse through our collection of fondue recipes.

You'll hear back from me in August.

Until then, be careful with open flames and have fun with fondue!
